Moong Dal Halwa | Diwali Recipes | Indian Sweets | Halwa Recipe | Moong Dal Recipe | Easy Dessert

hello everyone welcome to Home Cooking

With Me  Mung Dalal is an

inherently flavorful lentil it provides

a really good taste to whatever dish you

make with it we all usually make savory

dishes with mungdal

 today I going to

show you a fabulous halwa recipe and

it's called of course Moon halwa and

it's quite famous so why wait let's get

started and check out the recipe for the

mongal halwa I have soaked 1 250 ml cup

of the Moon Dal so you can see I've

soaked it for about 3 hours it's nicely

plumped up so discard the water so I've

strained it completely so I'm just going

to dry it a bit and wipe off all that

excess moisture before we grind this you

can also use a regular kitchen towel to

do

this so you can also uh turn on you can

just air dry it for a couple of minutes

till it's nice and dry so these are a

couple of options to dry the

Dal so Dal is completely dried I'm going

to transfer to the mixer jar I've

transferred the soaked and dried Dal

into the mixer jar now just pulse it a

few times the mixture has to be a bit

coarse

so it's a bit coarse I'm not grounded

too

fine so first I'm going to roast the

nuts and raisins take 1 tblspoon of ghee

add about half2 cup of cash nuts chopped

keeping the flame on low just roast the

cash

nuts next I'm adding the sliced almonds

add a few sliced pistachios roast them

till they all turn to a nice golden

color so once the nuts have roasted to a

nice golden color I'm just going to

remove them and keep it

aside to the same pan add another

teaspoon of ghee I'm just going to roast

the

raisins so the raisins have plumped up

remove the raisins and keep them aside

take a nice white pan add about cup of

ghe to this I'm adding 1 tbsp of suji

and 1 tbsp of gram flour that is Basin

once you've added the suji and the Basin

roast it for about 2 minutes now add the coarsely ground mongal

mixture so we're going to cook this

mixture till it becomes nice and dry and

all that excess moisture is

evaporated

you can see the mixture's become quite

dry at this point I've been roasting

this for about 15 minutes now all that

excess moisture is evaporated and it's

got this very nice crumbly

texture so now I'm going to add 1 cup of

water next add one cup of milk now this

is boiled milk that I'm using

here keeping the flame on a low just mix

everything

nicely so I'm adding about 2 tbsp of

ghee just mix that

in so we're going to be adding ghee at

intervals to get the right texture and

consistency for the

halwa now I'm adding about 2 cups of

sugar this is a 250 ml cup

measurement so you can see the Hala is

coming together very nicely once the

sugar is dissolved it's beginning to

thicken now cooking this on a medium

high flame now you can adjust the

sweetness according to the quantity of

moong Dal that you're using and

according to your

taste so when the Alva has thickened

considerably I'm adding about4 cup of

G so now I'm going to add 1 teaspoon of

cardan powder add a few saffron

strands so I'm just adding a few nuts

now just going to save a few for later

for garnish on top

so here is his delicious mongal halwa

loaded with all those lovely rich

flavors and we've garnished it with a

lot of nuts and raisins looks absolutely

delicious make sure you serve it nice

and hot and enjoy this festive

mongal Hala is really special because it

tastes really amazing when you serve it

nice and hot or when you bring it down

to room temperature now you can add

whatever dry fruits and nuts to this

halwa to make it more interesting so do

try this recipe for this Festival season

and share it with your family and

friends so for more exciting and

wonderful recipes
